What’s with the Finns have all these pricey, advanced military aircraft takeoff and/or land on public roadways?
A while back, we posted this clip of an F-18 — yes, in Finland — taking off from a winding, mountain road. And now this.
We said it then and we’ll say it again. Finland’s tourism tagline should be straight to the point: Finland, a Nordic land of brown bears, heavy metal bands, strong coffee, dense green forests and improvised runways for fighter jets.
This one happens to be Swedish aircraft — a SAAB JAS-39 Gripen. The uncharacteristic touchdown was part of an air force exercise between the two countries called “Baana 2015”.
