Foam parties rarely occur outside the college circuit, but with a little alcohol anything is possible. In late May, a drunken Marine based in at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa activated the fire suppression system in the aircraft hangar.

Though it has been several weeks since the event took place, it is now confirmed that the Marine has been arrested. Details concerning the Marine’s blood-alcohol content or identity have not been released.

Designed to suppress fires as quickly as possible, the fire suppression system poured foam-based flame retardant from the ceiling and filled the hangar in a matter of minutes. The foam expands extremely quickly, so much so that a similar incident in Florida resulted in the death of a contractor. Luckily, no one was injured during this recent event.
