In a rash of tweets, filmmaker and activist Michael Moore put forth a slew of strong opinions, the gist of them being that he’d like to disarm America’s police — i.e. take away their firearms and ammunition — and free from prison “every African-American currently incarcerated for drug ‘crimes’ or nonviolent offenses”.

Moore has had a long history with guns. He wrote and directed the acclaimed documentary Bowling for Columbine in 2002 and has railed against the NRA for years saying that “guns are for hunters … and cowards.”

This recent stance comes off the heels of this controversial tweet which came in response to the immense popularity of Clint Eastwood’s American Sniper — the life story of the late Navy SEAL Chris Kyle.
