Sgt. Frank Cala’s last confessional during his exit from “Hell’s Kitchen” just cost him his job.

The Marine was fired as Marine Commandant Gen. Robert Neller’s personal chef after he made derogatory comments towards female Marines on television. The service confirmed that Cala had lost his position after the former chef posted an apology video to Youtube.

“Sgt. Cala was removed from the commandant’s staff and reassigned to the Marine Enlisted Aide Program,” USMC spokesman Capt. Diann Rosenfeld told the Marine Corps Times on Wednesday.

Cala found himself in hot water when he was eliminated from Gordon Ramsay’s “Hell’s Kitchen” during its April 1 episode. After working with female chefs and then being nominated for elimination by another woman, Cala blamed women (and female Marines, somehow) for his performance on the show.

“The Blue Team never had any drama until the females came aboard and that’s when the ship sunk,” Cala said. “That’s exactly why I get [bleep] female Marines and I send them back wherever the [bleep] they came from.”

A few days later, Cala apologized for his comments on a public video.

“I want to apologize for my comments made shortly after my elimination from Hell’s Kitchen on Friday night,” he said in the video. “I have nothing but the utmost respect for my fellow Marines, regardless of gender, and I want to apologize from the bottom of my heart to everyone I’ve disappointed.”

Cala’s superior officer Gunnery Sgt. Brian Kauten defended the chef to the Marine Corps Times. He pointed out that reality television is heavily edited, and there might have been some additional context to his remarks about female Marines.

“They are going to make you see what they want to see for ratings,” Kauten said.

Clearly, the Marine Corps commandant was less sympathetic.
