A homeowner association in Georgia is learning the hard way after attempting to lay down absurd, unAmerican rules that stated residents could only fly Old Glory 23 days of the year.

A United States Navy veteran and resident of the place, Tom Wilder, is leading the charge in basically saying to them “oh HELL no.”

“You don’t mess with my flag,” he told a FOX News affiliate out of Atlanta recently.

The name of the community is the Village at Towne Lake. And what, pray tell, is the reason for such a ludicrous decree?

They say it’s to “maintain the aesthetic and architectural theme of the community.”

“Now we won’t be able to even put it in the ground. It has to be a flag holder attached to our houses,” explained Wilder.

“To me, you’re basically saying it’s a Christmas decoration,” said another vet. “I don’t think I would be able to look at myself in the mirror.”

Via an email, these are the days the association laid out where it’s acceptable — according to them — for one to fly the flag:

New Year’s Day

Inauguration Day

Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Lincoln’s Birthday

Washington’s Birthday

Easter Sunday

Patriots Day

National Day of Prayer

Mother’s Day

Armed Forces Day

Memorial Day

Flag Day

National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day

Labor Day

As for Wilder, it doesn’t matter what the community’s managers say. He’s flying his flag, and that’s it.

When asked if he would ever take down his American flag he answered “when I’m dead.”

Thankfully, he won’t have to suffer through any legal trouble. The Freedom to Display the American Flag Act of 2005 covers the service member and any other human being in the United States who wishes to fly the red, white and blue.
