In American business, it’s hardly odd to see something sacred get trampled by the steamroller that is the almighty buck. Some might even say it’s commonplace.

Just last summer, Bob Hope Airport was renamed “Hollywood Burbank Airport.”

Jack Murphy Stadium in San Diego became Qualcomm Stadium.

“Brad’s Drink” became Pepsi.

Thankfully, a military veteran turned Las Vegas restauranteur didn’t fall down this bloodsucking rabbit hole recently, after acquiring an eatery from the mother of a service member killed in Kandahar, Afghanistan — Specialist Douglas J. Green.

The buyer, Ralph Salazar, is keeping the original name — Dougie J’s Cafe — which is meant to commemorate the memory of the fallen soldier. According to 13 Action News in Nevada, he felt it was important that it lives on.

While she plans to remain partially involved, the mom and business owner put the establishment on the market to focus on her nonprofit, which sends care packages to deployed soldiers.
