There is one benefit available through the VA that can directly impact a former service member’s salary, employment, status and social mobility — all in a positive, upward direction — and somehow, according to a recent government survey, only 36% of veterans are aware of it.

And that benefit is … the G.I. Bill. The education benefit that can pay for all (or nearly all) of a vet’s college or university tuition (and training, too).

In addition — the bill offers as much as the maximum cost of in-state tuition to your home state — it can also help pay for books and even housing (depending on your own unique situation).
