He’s only 12 years old, but Tristan Badia of Granger, Indiana is already well-versed in supporting America’s military. Last holiday season, he successfully packed and sent out 26 boxes of gifts and treats to service members deployed overseas and this year he aims to top that number. And not by a slim margin either.

“We’re already going to pass that by a lot,” he told 16 WNDU (South Bend, Indiana).

The joyous holiday shipment is part of Operation Make Their Day.

In every parcel there are various items: board games, drink mixes, spices, magazines, notebooks playing cards and — perhaps most important — a personalized letter. This year, Tristan got some help from his peers: Penn-Harris Madison School Corporation students. His classmates.

“I feel a lot more people could send them letters just make their day, a couple minutes to send a letter to make their day.”

“I would like to help make their days because I feel sometimes [troops] feel forgotten and that they need to know they aren’t going to be forgotten,” added Tristan’s sister, Haylie.
