This might be the most awesome thing we’ve seen so far this week!

Dan Abramson founder of yoga bag and mat company Brogamats has recently started at Kickstarter for his new invention of sorts called “Yoga Joes”. After suffering a back injury Abramson started doing yoga which led to founding Brogamats. Yoga Joes was the next step in helping to get more people into doing yoga, especially men.

Abramson created these little green yoga warriors by cutting up and melting G.I. Joes into different poses, taking a 3-D scanning class, teaching himself 3-D design software and printing prototype figurines before uploading the project for funding to kickstarter.

“I made Yoga Joes in the spirit of getting more people to try yoga. More unexpected folks are reaping the benefits of yoga today, from professional athletes, to children, to military men and women returning from wartime.

I’m hoping people pass Yoga Joes around as an inexpensive gift to friends and loved ones, who might like to give yoga a shot. Plus, I hope yoga fans display them proudly in their homes, offices, and yoga studios. And I hope kids get to be acquainted with yoga from a young age – celebrating military men and women for their focus and discipline”.

One study published just a few months ago in the Journal of Traumatic Stress found that meditation techniques and breathing exercises is a powerful tool in helping military veterans recover from PTSD.

Abramson says his goal is to have Yoga Joes available for Christmas and has raised nearly $72,000.
