Do you live in a state of laziness? Or do you simply live in a lazy state?

The latter question has been answered, thanks to the Washington Post’s Wonkblog, which published a breakdown of “which states fall on an index of sloth”, and can be seen in the color-coded map below.

The variables that decided the index and each degree of inertia were the following:

  • Television watching
  • Prevalence of fast-food restaurants
  • Love of Daytime soap operas
  • Exercise (or lack thereof)
  • Love of frozen pizza
  • Video game playing

Google and Facebook helped measure the more cumbersome subjects, with other research thrown in for the more obvious areas (Nielsen for television, etc.).

Drumroll, please.

Here are the results:

Wyoming? Give it up for Wyoming. And the 12 people that live there. They’re all apparently very motivated.
