This almost made us here at The SitRep shed a tear.

Elizabeth Laird or the “hug lady” as she’s know as at Ft.Hood, has spent the last year giving soldiers both the last and first gift they receive when they deploy and later return home.

A hug.

Laird became the “hug lady” after she was volunteering with the Salvation Army and a soldier hugged her. Then other soldiers needed a hug as well and the tradition was born from there.

She says this is just her way of saying Thank You for what they do four our country.
