The Nigerian military continues to make strides in ridding the terror group known as Boko Haram from its borders where, since 2014 it’s killed almost 6,000 innocent civilians and captured and tortured countless more. The Chibok schoolgirls, of course, being the most famous.

According to a statement released Sunday — as reported by the BBC — Nigeria says it has rescued 178 people from the Islamist extremists in northern Borno state. It went on to confirm that 101 of those rescued were children, while 67 were women.

The report also reveals that a Boko Haram commander was captured and a few of the group’s terror camps were destroyed.
