We had the chance to talk to Courtney Lear at Unique Vintage and uncovered the company’s strong military ties and heartfelt need to honor those who have served.

What made you decide to celebrate veterans and offer discounts exclusively for Veterans Day?
We love and support our troops and military families. Doing a promotion for Veterans Day is the least we can do to make all those who have served or are currently serving feel acknowledged and honored on this day. We hope it’s a little something to make it easier for troops and their families to treat themselves or their loved ones to something fabulous, to get that perfect outfit for an upcoming military ball, or just to bring a little piece of nostalgic fashion from home, abroad.
What personal connection do you have to the military community? And, why is Veterans day special to you?
Personally, as the soon-to-be-wife of an Air Force veteran, I feel a special connection to Veterans Day as a day to honor my fiancé’s service, and even more importantly to be thankful that I am one of the lucky ones that has my veteran home with me. It’s a time to remember and honor those who’ve sacrificed so much for the good of our great country, whether they’ve been the boots on the ground, or the families who have waited for them back home.
What connection does your brand have with the military community?
Perhaps it’s the All-American feel of our vintage-inspired fashion, but since the beginning Unique Vintage has had the good fortune of having a strong military family customer base. We regularly hear stories and receive pictures from customers who have purchased something special to wear while welcoming their husband home from deployment, or have created the perfect ensemble for a military ball or holiday soiree, or have simply been able to take a break from their uniform to get done up in their pin up finest. We’ve also worked with the Pin-Ups for Vets organization to do pin up makeovers for deserving veterans who want to get dolled up after months in a uniform after a deployment. It makes us feel honored and proud that our clothing can be a part of such special moments.
