British hackers with ties to ISIS (Islamic State, IS, ISIL, Daesh, etc.) recently published a scathing “hit list” of United States military personnel they believe to have been responsible for drone strikes that have killed their fellow jihadists in both Iraq and Syria. It comes on the heels of another such list that contained the names of what look like random New York natives with the ominous tag “kill … where they are.”

Federal officials believe its the terror organization’s latest foray into psychological warfare, with it stemming from a faction of the group self-proclaimed as the “Islamic State Hacking Division.”

The names seemed to have been gleaned from the web and social media sites.

The former leader of the ISIS-linked operation was Birmingham, England’s own Junaid Hussain, who was killed in the summer of 2015 by a drone strike in Syria.

The threats that accompany the lists are actually pretty entertaining.

“You crusaders that can only attack the soldiers of the Islamic State with joysticks and consoles, die in your rage! Your military has no courage, neither has your president as he still refuses to send troops.

“So instead you press your buttons thousands of miles away in your feeble attempt to fight us. A nation of cowards that holds no bravery as you resort to sending your remote-controlled unmanned Reaper and Predator drones to attack us from the skies. So this is for you, America. These 75 crusaders are posted as targets for our brothers and sisters in America and worldwide to hunt down and kill.”

They also throw in a threat that they have secret intel that’ll affect not only the U.S. military by Great Britain’s as well.

The other list — they one that contained ordinary citizens who happen to live in the Big Apple — is a slightly different, but perhaps stranger story.

This from Digital Trends:

A number of individuals named on the list, which was first uploaded to controversial messaging app Telegram by the United Cyber Caliphate, are associated with the Department of State and Department of Homeland Security, but the majority seem to be ordinary citizens who have recently been informed that ISIS allegedly has an eye on them. While officials say that it is most likely that the names were pulled at random from a series of much older, outdated lists, law enforcement has still taken precautions in dealing with those identified.

Both the FBI and the Pentagon have come out and commented on the lists. The Pentagon refuses to admit if the threat is real or not, and says it won’t deter their fight against the terror group domestically or abroad.

The FBI says it’ll do what it’s always done in situations like this:

“The FBI routinely notifies individuals and organizations of information collected during the course of investigation that may be perceived as potentially threatening in nature. Potential threats may relate to individuals, institutions, or organizations, and are shared in order to sensitive potential victims to the observed threat, and to assist them in taking proper steps to ensure safety.”

Doing their job, basically.

Again, ISIS is a terror group, and one that’s losing its ability to command real physical harm more and more with each passing day. So what does a bully do when they enter a fight they can’t win? They talk. And hope that does the trick.

“I’m not going to change my life, I’m not going to let this get me down,” said one of the random New Yorkers mentioned on the list, an 88-year-old according to NBC. “I’m not going to even do what they’re saying be cautious on the street, because it’s nonsense, it’s nonsense.”

Terrorists enjoy making lists, apparently? Can’t forget that Osama bin Laden was — duh! — a homeless Santa Claus (or a dirty wizard, whichever).
