Sgt. Shannon Dildine of North Charleston received a swift termination after a photo of him wearing boxers emblazoned with the Confederate Flag surfaced on social media.

The police force officially explained that the photo impedes Dildine’s “ability to improve trust and instill confidence when working with our citizens.” Considering the tumultuous aftermath of the Charleston shooting and the subsequent firestorm surrounding the Confederate Flag, this photo was a pretty big misstep on the officer’s part.

It’s worth noting that the photo is also a liability because a lawyer could use it as evidence that Dildine’s motivation for arrest was questionable.

This is a prime example of poor timing and poorer judgement. At least it was boxers instead of briefs.

Dildine as ten days to appeal the decision.
