Prince William, the British royal most famous for being birthed by Princess Diana and married by Princess Catherine, piloted an aircraft with the Battle of Britain memorial team to mark the event’s 75th anniversary and recognize “the few” who defended the United Kingdom during World War II. Before taking off, he spent some time with Royal Air Force veterans who battled the German Luftwaffe in intense dogfights.

One of those RAF veterans was the wiley Ken Wilkinson (pictured above), who told the prince that he was “under instructions not to tell dirty stories.” Prince William asked Wilkinson what the story was, and the veteran had no qualms with telling it in full.

Later [Wilkinson] recounted his story about a man called Joe who becomes the captain of his golf club and insists on only being referred to by his new title at a dinner where he receives his honour.

Mr Wilkinson said at the end of the event the man went home, got undressed and as he got into bed with his wife announced himself as the ‘captain’ and she replies ‘You have to be quick, Joe will be home soon’.

Wilkinson also jokingly told off Prince William, who flies helicopters for the British military, for flying “choppers” instead of “proper aeroplanes.” Considering that ‘chopper’ is a slang term for penis in the United Kingdom, this might also have been a thinly veiled dirty joke. With a subversive wise-cracker like Wilkinson, who knows.
