Just the other day we mentioned ole former Pentagon chief and lifetime government staffer Donald “Rummy” Rumsfeld and the fact that he was pushing an app (yes, no joke, an app) that he in part developed which allows users to play solitaire the way Winston Churchill once did.
When we made the connection, we — naturally — included Rumsfeld’s most famous chunk of words, which, to this day, do not fail to puzzle the heck out of retrospective Americans the same way they did back in 2002 when they were born.
Well, leave it to electrically-amiable Stephen Colbert to not only have Rumsfeld (who’s 83 years old now) on his late night show soon after our post, but bring up the tantalizing quotation, all the while “grilling” him on the controversial decision that was the Iraq War, which he had a HUGE hand in back at the turn of the millennium.
