The name of the proud American businessman in the following footage with big pockets and an even bigger heart is Shlomo Rechnitz.

While recently biding his time during a layover in Shannon, Ireland, Los Angeles native Mr. Rechnitz came upon about 400 American soldiers doing the same. He noticed something, however, that displeased him, and seemed amiss.

While he was able to get a delicious, warm meal at one of the airport’s eateries, the military members weren’t. Rather, they were unenthusiastically but tolerably, dutifully digging through their “paper sack dinners”.

So, Rechnitz did something about it.

He bought every single soldier dinner, allowing them to spend up to $50 each at any of the nearby restaurants.

Watch and listen to his “thank you” here (if you can’t make out his words, they’re in text just below the clip):

” …you guys risk your lives to protect me and protect my family. If I get to go out and see a whole bunch of Army soldiers and Marines, it’s something that makes me proud. I’m on my way to Israel now and you guys protect them too, and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
