No, the Kansas alum dashing swiftly in the video below isn’t John Riggins or Gale Sayers (both former Kansas football greats, by the way), it’s Bryan Sperry — World War II veteran and former Jayhawk leather helmet wearer.
It’s footage from a flag football game the university held right before the spring game this year (something they do every year).
As you can see, Sperry stole the spotlight in the most recent version, dusting off a collegiate career (albeit briefly) that last saw action during the 1948 Orange Bowl when the “Jayhawkers” lost to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 20-14.
