The intent? Surprise.

That’s what a local Christmas decorating business was going for when it selected Josh Tisoskey’s house in Hopkinton, Rhode Island to dress up in lights and ornaments for the holiday season, something they do each year for a random military veteran and their family.

“Looks great, looks fantastic actually. It looks very good, much better than I could do,” admitted Tisoskey to local NBC 10 News.

And while he gave the following quote in tandem with the one above — “I appreciate it, it’s very nice of them. It was very humbling. It was a big surprise” — technology actually revealed the big “dress up” hours earlier (albeit unintentionally) while the Afghanistan War vet and former Army National Guard soldier was at work doing his everyday job as a deputy sheriff in the county.

The wet blanket culprit? Home security cameras he’s able to check remotely.

“I check the cameras when my son comes home every once in a while and saw them working on the house, so I kind of had an idea something was up.”

“(We do it) just to try and provide some holiday cheer and happiness for the family,” said one of the organizers from Christmas Decor by SeaScape. “They’re all deserving.”

Visible in the photograph above, the beautifying of the property for the wintry festivities is highlighted by lights on the roof and shrubs, and even a giant illuminant wreath hung in the center of the design.

It’s not Griswoldian (as one can see in the short video clip below) but that’s probably a good thing.
