On Monday morning, personnel from an New Jersey-based animal activist facility called the Marine Mammal Center (MMSC) made a concerning discovery near the town of Wildwood.

A dolphin had been beached right off Hereford Inlet.

Jumping into action, the personnel provided the animal necessary medical attention to keep it from perishing, however, it could only be temporary.

To truly save its life, they needed to return it to where it could thrive once again: the open ocean.

Later that day, in the afternoon, the MMSC did just that — with the help of, who else? The United States Coast Guard.

They took the dolphin on Station Cape May’s 45-foot Response Boat-Medium about five miles off Cape May Inlet.
