There’s a blog called “Young Conservatives” run by two strapping former Ivy League rapscallions, David Rufful and Joshua Riddle. It’s kinda popular? has a longish, dense mission statement that starts with “AS DEFENDERS OF FREEDOM IN OUR CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC” and features stories like “Farmer Sprays Manure at Oscar-Winning Actress Emma Thompson at Anti-Fracking Protest” and “Michelle Obama’s Lunch Rules a Complete Failure, Child Obesity Higher Than Ever”.

You know, young cons stuff (“youngcons” is actually their URL).

Anyway, a couple of years ago either David or Joshua or someone working for David or Joshua tweeted the following tweet, which articulated a ponder the writer speculated might be some sort of Jungian archetypal notion maybe:

Now, whether you think the thought is viable or not will probably help determine whether you think the replies to this tweet are funny, or flat out disrespectful to the men and women who serve in the United States military.

Here’s the first reply:

Okay. Here’s the second:

Easy, Billy Ray Hamburger. Easy.

Here’s the third:

Is this snarky? Most likely yes. Snide? Is snide a better word. Feel like “snarky” gets thrown around far too much these days.

Here’s another reply:

Okay. Okay. That’s a little out of hand. Of course the troops would win. Power in numbers, baby.

Faulty logic. The academies are only pulling from a very small pool and only between the ages of 18 to about 22/23. There are about 1.4 million Americans serving in the military at the current time, and the age range goes to 40 and beyond.

Also: a couch made of legos sounds uncomfortable. And fragile.

Oh look. It’s Doug Exeter! Doug Exeter wins. With an assist from nice guy Matt Veasey. Nice job boys.
