When former Army Ranger Bruce Windorski told his wife he was going to a professional retreat in January, he hopped on a plane and went to Iraq to fight ISIS instead. A few months after Windorski returned home from his impromptu mission, the veteran has once again gone missing–only this time no one can find any trace of him.

Courtney Windorski said that her husband disappeared a week ago after leaving for an overnight trip. Windorski, who has battled PTSD since his brother was killed in Iraq in 2009, never came home from his trip or checked in with his family. Now Wisconsin authorities are anxiously searching for the veteran.

Though he had left his family without warning once before, Courtney does not believe her husband did that this time.

“He’s a survivor. So maybe he’s just out hunting and cannot find service, it is possible. But if he could contact me, he would. He knows how much I love him and worry. We just need him him to contact someone, anyone, and say that he’s okay,” she said.

Windorski was featured in an article earlier this year highlighting Americans who willingly left the country to fight the Islamic State. In the article, he spoke of his grief over losing his brother to Islamic terrorists and his desire to find closure by returning to Iraq to confront his demons. However, his wife doesn’t believe charging back into battle helped him quiet his demons.

Bruce Windorski’s cellphone last connected to a cellphone tower in Missouri a week ago. He is 5’11” tall, weighs 230 lbs, and has dark hair and brown eyes. He may be driving his 2003 grey Dodge Durango.

Anyone who has seen Windorski or has information on his whereabouts are encouraged to call Gillette, Wisconsin police at (920) 855-2125.
