Derek Jeter is a lot of things. He’s a New York baseball legend. He’s a future Hall of Famer. He’s a ladies man. He’s a delusion egomaniac. And, if you asked President Barack Obama, he’s a swindler.

A sandbagger. With absolutely no “RE2PECT” for the Leader of the Free World.

Hard to believe, eh? Not when you hear Obama’s story from last November when he golfed with the former Yankee captain (via Politico and Bleacher Report):

“[Las Vegas Sun owner Brian Greenspun] and Derek Jeter stole money from me at Shadow Creek,” Obama said of Greenspun, referring to the course in North Las Vegas. “It was clearly a setup, because when we got to the practice range, he was shanking balls everywhere. I said, ‘You play golf Derek?’ And he said, ‘I just started two weeks ago.'”

They gave Jeter 30 strokes, Obama said, but he realized that was a mistake as soon as they were on the first hole. Jeter crushed him, he said

“We had to take a picture of me handing Derek Jeter money at the end of the game. Despite that, Brian is a great friend.”

The 30 strokes part doesn’t make a lick of sense. The president isn’t Vijay Singh. He’s not shooting an even-par round, and even the crappiest golfer — who was not long ago a world class athlete mind — can break 110.

Also: is Obama allowed to bet a portion of his presidential salary? Or is that a faux pax?
