U.S. Airman Spencer Stone, Oregon Army National Guardsman Alek Skarlatos and Anthony Sadler, the Americans who helped disarm a terrorist on a Paris-bound train, received the French Legion of Honour at a extravagant ceremony on Monday. All of their mothers attended the ceremony and watched their boys be honored by French President Francois Hollande himself.

But how did their moms, who didn’t come with them to Europe, make it in time to watch their sons win the highest noncombat decoration in France?

Columbia Sportswear CEO Tim Boyle personally lent his private jet to the three moms to ensure that they could attend the ceremony. His pilot, Doug Perrill, helped the women get passports on short notice and flew them to Europe post haste.

“We were humbled by the opportunity to lend our private jet, so they could be there to witness French President François Hollande recognizing their sons and brothers with France’s highest civilian honor for their selfless acts of last Friday,” Boyle said in a statement. “We stand today with people all around the world in honor of these four young men who bravely subdued the terrorist and saved untold lives.”
