A few days ago, while patrolling the Pacific coast and keeping America’s shores safe and secure, a United States Coast Guard chopper out of North Bend, Oregon discovered a curious thing on their radar about 25 nautical miles into the ocean.

Thankfully it wasn’t a garbage pile or the Chinese navy or Poseidon himself. No, fortunately for all Americans it was an adorable revelation: 300 to 500 small, slender Northern right whale dolphins cutting through the cold salt water in their respective pods, traveling at a whopping 16 mph.

Like savvy marines are wont to do, one of the USCG members got out their camera and snapped the following photographs. They’re stunning, to the least:
