Howard, a World War II veteran, has been married to Laura for 73 years. While Howard was at war, Laura would find solace by singing their special love song–a version of “You’ll Never Know” performed by Rosemary Clooney. During their lengthy marriage, it was common for the couple to sing the song together as a duet at family events. They even performed it on their 50 year anniversary when they renewed their marriage vows.

When Laura was admitted to hospice and given a week to live, the 92 year-old Howard mustered the strength to sing their song one more. While she is too weak to sing and he can hardly stand without his grandkid’s help, they sang the song to the end.

Their granddaughter Erin Solari wrote on YouTube that Laura’s condition improved and she has been moved back home.

After posting this video to Facebook, it began to go viral and all the outpouring of love lifted everyone’s spirits… including Grandma’s! They originally gave her just a week to live, but hospice eventually deemed her well enough to go back home to live out her remaining few days. As of this posting my beautiful Grandma Laura Virginia is still with us resting peacefully at home. Our family along with the wonderful people from hospice are taking care of her and making sure she remains as pain-free and comfortable as possible while she prepares for her nearing departure. We all thank you so much for the love and kind words.
