Now that the United States, Russia and Syria are pummeling Islamic State outposts from the skies, ISIS militants have been forced to defend themselves with bombs made from the only material they have laying around in bulk–condoms.

In a video published by Russia Insider, ISIS operatives fill condoms with helium and attach bombs to create a more ridiculous, inflated version of the traditional IED. Militants hope that by releasing their improvised bombs into the air, they can create an aerial minefield and stop fizzling missiles from bombarding their camps.

Unlike a properly used condom, ISIS’ ingenious plan is full of holes. Helium may be lighter than air, but rubber and explosives are not. There is simply no way these bombs can gain enough altitude to hit military aircraft, assuming the pilot of said aircraft doesn’t just maneuver around them and continue their mission. Instead, these shoddy bombs will sink back to the earth and remain undetonated until an innocent triggers them by accident. Then those bombs become real IEDS.

This condom scheme isn’t harming the United States or Russian militaries at all–it’s making the Syrian ground more dangerous for the people who live there, including the insurgents themselves.
