The death toll of the recent military plane crash in Indonesia continues to climb.
An Indonesian Hercules C-130 transport plane full of servicemen, women and their families crashed Tuesday in Medan. The astonishing and horrific accident leveled entire buildings as the plane careened out of the sky and collided with skyscrapers and cars. The aircraft was completely destroyed, save for its maimed tail. First responders and witnesses have described the grisly crash site as a war zone as they’ve searched the wreckage for survivors.
As of Wednesday, confirmed casualties have risen to 142. Only 62 bodies, most of whom were military personnel, have been identified. The cause of the crash remains unknown.
Indonesia has a terrible record when it comes to aviation safety. It has only been six months since its last terrible plane crash, which killed 162.
