Paratroopers aren’t the only American daredevils dropped out of planes by the government.

Well, now they are. But sometime in 1950, in Idaho, an unorthodox wildlife experiment put the toothy dam-building rodents in aircraft and parachuted into the wilderness in an attempt to manage overpopulation.

It was filmed, but the footage went missing decades ago, and it was thought to be lost forever.

Until recently, when a historian unearthed the antique movie, which apparently had been mislabeled and stored in the wrong place.

A few days ago it was released by the Idaho Historical Society and uploaded to YouTube.

According to its source, none of the beavers were killed or injured in the “jumps”.
