An enormous wildfire is wiping Fort McMurray, Canada off the map. The community was once home to the world’s third largest reserve of oil and hundreds of thousands of people. Now the area is a blazing inferno that is halting oil production, incinerating homes and scattering locals.

Canada’s military is leading a 1,500 vehicle convoy to evacuate civilians from the smokey ruins of their hometown. One of those civilian, Travis Dreissigacker, recorded his own evacuation on an C-130 Hercules.

Most of the video shows an unidentified airman cracking jokes while giving a pre-flight spiel to passengers. When an entire city is going down in flames, a little humor and go a long way.

“There’s a rubber gasket, and there’s a little clip on an oxygen regulator,” he explains. “Pull the clip off. Stick your fingers into the rubber gasket. stuff it down over your head and make sure it seals around your neck.”

“Then kiss your ass goodbye because we are probably going to f*cking hammer right into the ground,” he adds, earning laughter from his audience.

After reminding civilians that he is “not a f*cking stewardess,” the service member points out the C-130 Hercules.

According to the BBC, more than 20 percent of Fort McMurray homes are already in ashes. While 100,000 people have evacuated, there have been no major deaths or injuries.
