After spending his twenties as a rear gunner on a Lancaster Bomber, Royal Air Force veteran John Weston’s love of flying has lasted his entire lifetime. To celebrate his 90th birthday and raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society, Weston strapped himself to the wing of a small plane flew 500 feet into the sky.

In a truly British fashion, 90 year-old WWII vet was unperturbed as he executed his wing walk and casually waved to spectators on the ground. Once he touched down, Weston told the BBC, “It’s windy up there!”

Weston also told reporters that he was glad no one was trying to “shoot him down” this time.
